Matrix Named Sales Agent for Maskless DI Machine
Technica USA has assigned Matrix to be an Eastern USA, Midwest, and Canadian sales agent for the Maskless Imaging machines. Kieran Healy, President of Matrix, says that everyone at Matrix is excited about this new opportunity.
Maskless Lithography’s patented new process using Digital Micro Mirrors (DMDs) and “Grey Level Imaging” offers production capability without the use of intermediate films, photoplotters, manual exposure equipment and associated facilities.
While addressing the industry’s most demanding circuits, the Maskless system transfers CAD image data directly to any conventional Dry Film Resist with unmatched speed and accuracy.
Fred Long, who for 18 years headed up the Matrix Imaging and Chemical division is returning as a “Business Development” coordinator with a key focus on this new product.
Long says, “The Maskless approach is the answer for Imaging Printed Circuit Boards. For five decades our industry has been using traditional film tools for circuit imaging. This highly unpredictable and manual process continues to introduce distortions and mis-registrations on a daily basis. To cope with new technology tolerances, these practices need to be eliminated. Although the introduction of Laser Direct Imagers deals with many issues, we are still faced with productivity restrictions and high cost installation and maintenance.”
This year, the industry is being introduced to a new concept in High-Speed Direct Imaging.
It is now possible to take CAD image data and expose Resist on a Panel side in eight seconds. With this speed and accuracy, it is feasible to start eliminating the older imaging processes and their costly related equipment and supplies. Only two key machines will remain in the Imaging Department; the Film Laminator followed by the Direct Imager.
