Megtron 6 Laminate System Approved by IBM

Panasonic’s new High Speed Low Loss laminate system, Megtron 6, has been approved by IBM for use in the Company’s new z10 Mainframe Computers.

MEGTRON 6 (R-5775) was designed specifically for high-speed network equipment, mainframe computers and high-frequency measuring instruments. MEGTRON 6 is a woven glass-reinforced laminate system which possesses the PCB industry’s highest combined performance characteristics: Dk 3.5, Df .002, Td 410°C and solder float 6x 288°C @ 10 secs.

The IBM z10 Mainframe packs the computer power of 1,500 PC-style servers while using 85% less electricity and occupying 85% less floor space. The z10 was designed to handle the exploding demand of digital transactions enabled by the internet, a trend that is creating crowded, over-burdened corporate data computer rooms that process everything from consumer banking transactions to driver’s license forms.
